History
Castle Hills, Texas is an independent city, completely surrounded by the city of San Antonio. It is bisected into a northern and southern half by interstate highway loop I-410 and is located on Interstate Loop 410 nine miles north of downtown San Antonio in northern Bexar County. Like many other cities, it enjoyed a simple beginning.
The area was originally settled in the early 1920’s by a handful of families attracted by the plentiful water supply provided by the Olmos Creek. Many of these first families of Castle Hills were tied to the oil industry. Perhaps most notable, the Slimp Family, whose house was set atop a hill for which the city was named. The town quickly grew into a cohesive, thriving community. In fact, the development of some of today’s thoroughfares and public facilities was provided through the generosity of its early citizens.

Geography
Castle Hills is located at 29°31'18" North, 98°30'60" West (29.521762, -98.516601). According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 2.5 square miles (6.4 km²), of which, 2.5 square miles (6.4 km²) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water.
