History
Lakehills, Texas is a census-designated place (CDP) in Bandera County, Texas and is located on Park Road 37 eight miles south of Bandera Falls in southeastern Bandera County. County road improvements that began in the late 1930’s were delayed by World War II, and as a result, development of the area did not really begin until the 1950’s.
The community was known as Upper Medina Lake until a post office substation was established there in the early 1960’s.
The Lakehills station was operated as a contract post office, supervised by the postmaster at Pipe Creek. The population of Lakehills in the mid-1970s was reported as 300. By the early 1990s it had risen to 2,239. The population grew to 4,668 by 2000.

Geography
Lakehills is located at 29°35′51″N 98°56′48″W / 29.5975, -98.94667 (29.597381, -98.946606) This is 12 miles (19 km) southeast of Bandera and 30 miles (48 km) west of San Antonio, on Medina Lake.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 34.4 square miles (89.0 km²), of which, 30.3 square miles (78.5 km²) of it is land and 4.1 square miles (10.6 km²) of it (11.87%) is water.
